APC’s Monsuru Osho Sweeps Iperu III Ward 5 Bye-Election With 1,730 Votes

All Progressives Congress candidate,  Monsuru Osho has been declared winner of the bye-election held in Iperu III Ward 5, Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State on Saturday. 

The Returning Officer for the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission, Olusogo Otelaja, announced that Osho polled 1,730 of the 1,741 total votes cast across the ward’s 18 polling units. The Peoples Democratic Party scored 5 votes, while the African Democratic Congress had 4 votes, placing them a distant second and third.

According to Otelaja, accreditation and voting began at 8:00 a.m. under tight security. He commended voters and party agents for their orderly conduct, adding that no major incidents were recorded during the exercise.

OGSIEC Chairman, Babatunde Osibodu, represented by Commissioner Gbemi Onasanya, described the poll as peaceful, free, and credible. He praised residents for their participation and lauded the professionalism of electoral officers and security agencies during voting and collation.

Ikenne Local Government Chairman, Jamiu Asimi also hailed OGSIEC for a smooth and transparent process. He thanked Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration for its development efforts across Ogun State.

In his acceptance remarks, the Councillor-elect, Monsuru Osho thanked the electorate for their overwhelming support and expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun for the opportunity to serve. He pledged to collaborate with the local government to drive development and improve welfare in the ward.

Voters at the collation centre, including Kehinde Fasola and Moses Adewuyi, described the election as peaceful, transparent, and well-organized.

The bye-election was held to fill the seat left vacant following the death of former councillor Nurudeen Bakare.
