Ekiti EXCO Approves Over ₦17.2bn Projects, Reforms at 5th 2026 Meeting

The Ekiti State Executive Council, at its 5th meeting for 2026 held Monday at the New Governor’s Office, Ado-Ekiti, approved projects and policy decisions worth over ₦17.2 billion. The approvals cover infrastructure, power, digital governance, and traditional institutions.

Chaired by Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, the Council’s eight major resolutions align with the administration’s Shared Prosperity Agenda.
Key Approvals
₦381.65m for Solar Streetlights in Ado-Ekiti
The Council approved ₦381.65 million for solar streetlight installations to boost security and promote renewable energy. The projects will cover major roads in Awedele Community, GRA 3rd Extension off NTA Road, and Igirigiri Junction along the Ado-Ekiti local headquarters road. The Ekiti State Electricity Board (EKSEB) will execute the projects through direct labour within three months.

₦337.66m for Statewide Electricity Upgrades
Four strategic electricity projects totaling ₦337,658,297.65 were approved. They include transformer upgrades in Oke-Oniyo Community and EKSUTH, electricity extension to Command Academy, Ikogosi-Ekiti, and relocation of the Ado–Ilawe 33KV line to reduce faults. EKSEB will deliver all projects in three months through direct labour.

₦14.31bn for Two Strategic Road Projects
The Council approved ₦12.58 billion for the reconstruction of the 18.83km Ilawe–Erijiyan–Ikogosi Road. Awarded to Dromo International, the project is expected to be completed in 16 months.

Additionally, ₦1.73 billion was approved for the 2.24km Spotless to Assembly of God Road in Ado-Ekiti. Garden of Mercy Engineering Limited will execute the project within 12 months.

New Olumojo of Imojo-Ekiti Appointed
Prince Fagbayi Feyisayo Ige was confirmed as the Olumojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oye LGA. His selection followed Ifa divination and unanimous approval by kingmakers from the Fabunmi Ruling House. The stool became vacant after the death of Oba Olatunji Samuel on January 29, 2024.

₦74.96m for Digital Water Regulatory System
The EXCO approved ₦74,962,500 for EK-WASREDAMS, a digital platform to manage permits, water quality monitoring, citizen complaints, and payments in the water sector. Forthwill Nigeria Limited will deliver the platform in three months under the World Bank-supported SURWASH Programme.

₦2.063bn to Upgrade RAAMP Rural Roads
To accommodate higher-than-expected traffic, the Council approved ₦2,063,000,250 to increase asphalt thickness from 30mm to 40mm on four RAAMP roads. The roads cover: Ijero–Epe–Ararom–Iropora–Ikole–Isaba–Ikoyi–Igbemo; Ido–Ipere–Iludun; and Agbado–Ijisun–Ipole–Ise. Works are to be completed in seven months by existing contractors.

2025 BERAP Report Approved, Fibre Optics Committee Set Up
The Council ratified the 2025 Business Enabling Reform Action Plan Progress Report for the SABER Programme, with online publication targeted for July 31, 2026. It also constituted an Inter-Ministerial Committee, chaired by the Commissioner for Infrastructure, to drive fibre optics deployment across Ekiti.

EXCO Congratulates Gov Oyebanji on Re-election
The Council congratulated Governor Oyebanji on his re-election, noting he is the first sitting Ekiti governor to win a second term. It thanked residents for a peaceful poll and pledged continued support for development policies.

In a statement signed by Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, the government reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, due process, and prudent resource management. All approvals, it said, are designed to expand infrastructure, enhance safety, attract investment, and improve living standards across Ekiti State.
