Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has dissolved all boards, commissions and parastatals in the state and sacked political appointees serving in his cabinet.
The affected appointees include Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants and Technical Assistants to the Governor.
This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Mr Yinka Oyebode.
Oyebode said the decision was taken as the administration gradually winds down its first term, ahead of the inauguration of the governor’s second term on October 16, 2026.
He, however, disclosed that some statutory bodies were exempted from the dissolution.
According to him, the boards not affected include the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC), Civil Service Commission, House of Assembly Service Commission and the Judicial Service Commission.
He added that the governing councils of all state-owned tertiary institutions would also remain in office, in line with an earlier directive by the governor.
Similarly, the chairmen of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Local Government Service Commission and Teaching Service Commission are to remain in office, although their boards have been dissolved.

Oyebode further noted that Directors-General and Technical Advisers to the Governor are exempted from the termination of appointments.
Governor Oyebanji thanked the affected appointees for their contributions to his administration and service to Ekiti State, and wished them success in their future endeavours.
