The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ekiti State will commence the display of the Preliminary Register of Voters (PRV) and collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) from October 9 to 15, 2026.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Dr. Bunmi Omosehindemi, announced this on Monday at the official flag-off and stakeholders’ engagement held at the Commission’s state headquarters in Ado-Ekiti.
Omosehindemi, who was represented by the Head of Electoral Operations, Dr. Rahmon Badru, said the exercise is critical to building a credible electoral process, noting that a clean and accurate voters’ register remains the foundation for free and fair elections.
According to him, the week-long display will allow eligible voters to verify their personal details, photographs and biometrics, and to lodge claims and objections over issues such as omissions, errors, underage registration, inclusion of deceased persons, non-citizens and cases of double registration.
He disclosed that preparations are in top gear, with training of Local Government Training Officers (LGTOs) which commenced at the state office on Saturday, October 3, while other categories of personnel are being trained across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state.
The REC charged officials deployed for the exercise to be impartial, transparent and fair, and to give priority attention to vulnerable groups, including the elderly, pregnant women, nursing mothers and persons with disabilities.
He warned against negligence, absenteeism, political bias and favouritism, stressing that any act capable of eroding public confidence in the Commission would not be tolerated.

He explained that the preliminary register will be displayed at all designated Registration Areas and at local government headquarters across the state for public scrutiny.
In their separate remarks, the Head of General Administration and Procurement, Alhaji Tiamiyu Arowolo, and the Head of ICT and Voter Registry, Mrs. Titilayo Oderinde, gave further clarifications on the modalities for the exercise.
Also speaking, the Ekiti State Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mrs. OluwaKemi Akomolede, commended INEC for the initiative, noting that it would help update official records and reassure citizens who had expressed fears of being disenfranchised.
INEC called on all eligible voters, political parties, civil society groups and other stakeholders to participate actively in the exercise, describing it as a collective responsibility towards achieving a credible voters’ register ahead of future elections.
