It’s Ado-Ekiti’s Turn to Produce Ekiti Central Senator in 2027 — Princess Fajuyi-Olajuyigbe

ADO-EKITI — A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and senatorial candidate for Ekiti Central Senatorial District, Princess Monica Adesola Ajoke Fajuyi-Olajuyigbe, has said it is the turn of Ado-Ekiti to produce the next senator for the district in 2027.

Princess Fajuyi-Olajuyigbe, who is the Coordinator of the Adekunle Fajuyi Education Trust, made the declaration in Ado-Ekiti during a chat with Treasure Newspaper. 

She said her call for Ado-Ekiti to produce the next senator is anchored on fairness, equity and justice.

According to her, Ekiti Central, which comprises five local government areas — Ado, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ekiti West, Ijero and Efon — has seen the Senate seat rotate among other councils, while Ado-Ekiti, despite being the state capital and the largest in population and voting strength, has been marginalized.

“It is an undeniable fact that Ado-Ekiti has not been given its fair share in the representation of Ekiti Central at the Senate. For equity and balance to be maintained, it is the turn of Ado-Ekiti to represent Ekiti Central. Our people have waited, we have contributed immensely to the development of the district and the state, and the time is now,” she said.

The aspirant, who is seeking the PDP ticket for the 2027 general election, said her ambition is not driven by personal interest but by a desire to offer quality representation and attract federal presence to the district.

She unveiled a five-point agenda as her social contract with the people, focusing on education, women’s economic empowerment, youth development and job creation, quality healthcare delivery, and community development.

Princess Fajuyi-Olajuyigbe, a daughter of the late former Military Governor of the old Western Region, Col. Adekunle Fajuyi, said she would bring her experience in education advocacy, philanthropy and community service to bear at the Senate if elected.

“The people of Ado-Ekiti and indeed the entire Ekiti Central deserve a loud voice, a compassionate voice and a visionary voice at the Red Chamber. I am offering myself to be that voice. I am appealing to our leaders, delegates and the good people of the five local governments to support the Ado-Ekiti agenda for 2027,” she added.

She called for unity among stakeholders in the district, urging them to see her aspiration as a collective project for development, empowerment and renewed hope.

Some stakeholders who also spoke with Treasure Newspaper described her declaration as timely and a step in the right direction, pledging to mobilize support for zoning the senatorial ticket to Ado-Ekiti.
