The Vice Chancellor of the Joseph Ayodele Babalola University, JABU, Ikeji Arakeji in Osun State, Professor Olasebikan Fakolujo is seeking the public support to establish a world class Teaching Hospital in the University as well as support to build more student’s hostels among other things needed by the Institution.

Professor Olasebikan Fakolujo, the Vice Chancellor of JABU made the above known while addressing the 13th Convocation Ceremony of the Institution on Friday at it’s main campus located at Ikeji Arakeji in Osun State.

Fakolujo used the opportunity to call on spirited individuals in the Country and beyond to assist the Institution due to it’s poor financial status.

Fakolujo appealed to parents and distinguished guests for support as the University is proposing a Teaching Hospital which is a prerequisite for the establishment of a College of Medicine in the Institution.

In his own words, Fakolujo said, “we are humbly requesting your support and contributions to establish our own Teaching Hospital at JABU. You all know that the establishments of a Teaching Hospital is a very capital intensive project and it is presently beyond the financial capability of the University. But we strongly believe that through your philanthropic dispositions as directed by God, the project would be achievable”, he retorted.

Also, he said, “due to the increase in the students population as a result of the improved student’s enrollment, it is projected that in two years time, there would be an acute shortage of students hostels on our campus”.

Based on the above, he also made a passionate appeal to the parents and other distinguished guests and Nigerians to consider contributing to it to write or immortalize their names on the golden plate of the University.

Speaking further, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Fakolujo revealed that, out of 30 students who bagged first class honours, one Oluwagbemiga Akinseye from the Accounting Department emerged as the overall best graduating student for the 2021/2022 academic session at the 13th Convocation of the Institution.

Continuing, Fakolujo said a total of 179 students bagged a Second Class Honours (Upper Division), 210 students are in the category of Second Class Honours (Lower Division) while 59 students and three students are in the Third Class Honours category and Pass category respectively.

Fakolujo also added that a total of 481 students finished well for the 2021/2022 academic session where 88 students did well in their higher degrees.

He therefore disclosed that five more academic courses were accredited in the 2021/2022 year by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Also addressing the 13th Convocation, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of JABU, Pastor Olusegun Oladele, posited that the vision of the founding fathers of the institution was to produce intellectuals with spiritual inclination that would impact their world positively.

Oladele, who is the President of the Christ Apostolic Church ( CAC), said that JABU was not just a higher institution but a crucible in which men and women of character, integrity and enterprise were formed.

While speaking, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University, Prof. A. M Imevbore, told the graduands to build on the good foundation they had acquired while studying in the Institution and be good ambassadors of the institution to the world.

Imevbore asked the Federal Government to extend the funding of universities and TETfund review to Private Universities, saying that private universities contributed immensely to all sectors of the Country.
