Ogun Command Flags Recirculated Kenya Drone Footage, Reaffirms State Security

The Ogun State Police Command has flagged recirculated Kenya drone footage, reaffirming state security and dismissing a viral video claiming armed bandits are operating in Ogun forests, calling the footage false, misleading, and recycled.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the Ogun State Command at Eleweran in Abeokuta, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, in a press release dated April 26, 2026, has clarified that the video does not originate from Ogun State or anywhere in Nigeria.

Preliminary checks show the clip features individuals cooking in a bush and was actually recorded in Kenya during a General Service Unit drone operation targeting cattle rustlers.

The footage first appeared online in 2022 and has since been reposted with a false narrative to stir panic about Ogun’s security situation.

Commissioner of Police CP Bode Ojajuni condemned the spread of unverified content, warning it could spark unnecessary fear and erode public trust in security agencies.

He stressed there is no intelligence or operational report indicating any criminal presence in Ogun forests.

CP Ojajuni reassured residents that the Command remains committed to safety through intelligence-led policing, strategic deployments, and sustained vigilance across the state.

He urged the public to ignore the video, avoid sharing unverified information, and rely only on official channels for security updates.

Residents were also advised to stay law-abiding, report suspicious activity, and note that spreading false or inciting content will not be tolerated.
