Ogun Police Arrest Father, Son, Three Others; Recover Four Firearms, Stolen Phone

The Ogun State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in three separate intelligence-led operations, leading to the arrest of five suspects — including a father and his son — and the recovery of four firearms and a stolen Tecno Android phone worth ₦180,000.

On May 22, 2026, operatives from Afon Division arrested Fatai Adegbola and his 23-year-old son, Waliu Adegbola, after a report of phone theft. 

Waliu allegedly stole a Tecno Android phone from a residential apartment on May 8. Police tracked and recovered the device, and a follow-up search of their residence — backed by a court warrant — uncovered a locally made pistol and a dane gun hidden on the premises. Both suspects remain in custody as investigations continue into their activities and possible accomplices.

During a routine patrol at Ilisan Remo Roundabout on May 27 at about 7:30 a.m., Ilisan Remo Division officers recovered a locally fabricated pistol loaded with one live cartridge. The weapon was found abandoned and has been secured at the division’s armoury while police trace its origin and owner.

Ode Remo Division arrested 25-year-old Inioluwa Adesanya for stealing a dane gun from a resident. Investigations revealed Adesanya gained entry to the home while posing as a carpenter’s assistant during renovation work. 

He later confessed to the theft and admitted membership in the Aye confraternity, adding that the firearm had been modified for concealment. The weapon has been recovered and Adesanya will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for prosecution.

All cases have been transferred to SCID for discreet investigation and prosecution.

Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their professionalism and swift, intelligence-led response. 

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustained operations against cultism, armed robbery, and illegal firearm possession across Ogun State.
