Ogun Police Strengthens Fight Against Crime As CP Appoints New Head For VCRU

The Ogun State Police Command has strengthened the fight against criminality in the State just as the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni appointed a new head for the Commander of the Violent Crime Response Unit, VCRU, Mr Daramola Sunday Thompson. 

According to the statement by the Police Public Relations Officer for the Ogun State Command, at Eleweran in Abeokuta, Mr Oluseyi Babaseyi, pointed out that, according to the Command, “it  is in line with the ongoing reform agenda of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at restructuring and streamlining tactical operations across state commands nationwide.

CP Ojajuni stated that the strengthening of the VCRU would promote a unified, professional and intelligence-driven strategy in combating violent crimes, while enhancing operational efficiency, accountability and coordinated responses to security challenges across Ogun State.

The process leading to the appointment followed a rigorous screening exercise, which also marked the commencement of an orientation programme for newly selected personnel of the unit. 

Members of the Command Management Team joined the Commissioner of Police during the exercise to provide strategic direction and reinforce the reform objectives of the Inspector-General of Police.

The newly appointed commander, CSP Daramola, who was described as a seasoned officer with vast operational experience. 

He previously served as Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Cultism Unit and CP Monitoring Unit in Ogun State, Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Fraud Unit and Anti-Car Theft Unit in Ekiti State, as well as Divisional Police Officer of Noyo Division in Ebonyi State.

CP Ojajuni charged the new VCRU Commander to remain committed to professionalism, discipline and integrity, while ensuring swift, lawful and effective responses to violent crimes across the state.
