All is set for the first Lady of Nigeria and the Wife of the President and Commander of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON; the Osemawe and the Paramount Ruler of Ondo Kingdom, Oba (Dr.) Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo, CFR, Jilo III and a Professor of African Studies at the University of Texas in Austin, USA would all be on ground during the Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo 1st Convocation as a University and 35th Convocation Ceremony from the defunct College.

During the Convocation Ceremony, a total of 11,501 degree students, 6,269 NCE students and 1,055 Part-Time Students will officially graduated from the Institution.

The Acting Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Professor Samuel Akintunde make the announcement at the press conference held earlier on Monday at the main campus of the Institution located on the popular Ondo/Ore road.

According to the Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Samuel Akintunde, he said, “three outstanding Nigerians will be awarded Honorary Doctorate Degrees as listed above at the event”.

Professor Samuel Akintunde responding to question on what qualify one of the Honourary Award recipients, in person of the current first Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, he described her as a major player who played a significant role in the upgrading of Adeyemi College of Education into University asides her several contributions part of which is the donation of a hall of residence for the Institution.

The first Acting Vice Chancellor of the Institution also used the opportunity to announce a total of 11,501 degree students, 6,269 NCE students and 1,055 Part-Time Students who are from six different sets to be graduated officially on Thursday.

Adding, the Vice Chancellor said, the primary challenge the University is currently facing is funding. He lamented how the University is paying heavily for electricity supply to the Institution.

On NELFUND, the Acting Vice Chancellor said, “a total of 965 students of the University have so far applied for the Students Loan Scheme of the Federal Government in the Institution.

He also assured parents and students of the University, that, henceforth, there won’t be any further delay on the issue of results as students who graduated will now be mobilized for the NYSC immediately.

Activities marking the AFUED first Convocation as a University were listed as follows: on Monday, 15th May, 2025, immediately after the Press Conference at 10:00 am, there will be an inter – faculty debate by 2:00 pm at the Centre for Educational Technology.

On Tuesday, 20th May, 2025, there would be an Alumni Football Competition by 3:00 pm at the Institution’s Sports Centre.

By Wednesday, 21st May, 2025; the Alumni Foundation Day Lecture will be delivered by a distinguished Alumnus, Chief Adebayo Adenipekun, SAN by 10:00 am at the Centre for Educational Technology hall.

The grand finale of the activities will reach climax on Friday, 23rd May, 2025, with the Honourary Award of Doctorate Degrees, Award of Degrees, Certificates, Diplomas and Prizes for Graduands of the Ceremonies covering the 2017/2018; 2018/2019; 2019/2020; 2020/2021; 2021/2022; 2022/2023 academic sessions at the Professor Ayotunde Yoloye Sports Centre by 10:00 am.

On the evening of the same day, there would be the Alumni Re-Union Night at the Quadrangle by 5:00 pm.

Also, on Saturday, 24th May, 2025; the Grand Finale of the Alumni Activities will hold at the Alumni Hall by 10:00 am where the Alumni National Convention will hold.
