Ekiti Exco Approves N10.78bn for Health, Water, Roads, Aviation Projects

Ado-Ekiti — The Ekiti State Executive Council has approved capital projects worth N10.78 billion across health, water, road and aviation sectors.
The approvals were granted at the seventh Executive Council meeting for 2026, held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at the Executive Council Chamber, New Governor’s Office, Ado-Ekiti. The meeting was chaired by the Governor.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, said the approvals underscore the administration’s commitment to translating its development agenda into tangible, citizen-impacting projects.
He said Council emphasized timely delivery, value for money and strict compliance with the State Public Procurement Law.
The breakdown of the approvals is as follows:
- Healthcare – N6.76bn for Three General Hospitals:
The largest single approval is N6,765,887,612.22 for the construction of new hospital buildings at General Hospitals in Ikogosi-Ekiti, Awo-Ekiti and Ipao-Ekiti.
Each facility will cost N2,255,295,870.74 and will comprise male and female wards, maternity and delivery suites, children’s ward, theatre, laboratory, mortuary, staff quarters and administrative blocks.
The contracts were awarded to Axial Nigeria Limited (Ikogosi), Wals and Funs Nigeria Limited (Awo), and Red Soil Limited (Ipao), with a 10-month completion timeline.
- Water Supply – N1.97bn Under SURWASH Programme:
Under the World Bank-supported Sustainable Urban and Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (SURWASH) programme, Council approved two interventions:
- N296,217,500 for bulk purchase of 104 Grundfos solar-powered water pumps from Jovak Nigeria Limited; and • N1,681,198,360.20 for upgrading and rehabilitation of 104 high-yielding boreholes into reticulated solar-powered water facilities across Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas.
Fifty-two contractors emerged through an open competitive bidding process that attracted 167 bids. Delivery and completion is four weeks.
- Urban Roads – N1.09bn in Ado-Ekiti:
Council approved N1,093,694,524.13 for the construction of 400m Olajiga Street, Egbewa, and 915m GRA 3rd Extension Road (Ifesowapo – Ibi Oluwatoba Avenue – Ori Apata) in Ado-Ekiti.
The contract was awarded to Rudy Construction Nigeria Limited through direct procurement, with a 12-month duration.
- Airport Access Road – N340.6m:
To meet Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) operational requirements, N340,612,472.69 was approved for the construction of a 1km all-weather access road from Runway 21 threshold to the CVOR Navigation Aid site at the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport.
The contract was awarded to CCECC Nigeria Limited for completion in three months.
- Office and Lodge Upgrade – N448m:
The sum of N448,074,075.00 was approved for office equipment for the Ministry of Special Duties and replacement of worn-out furniture at the Presidential Lodge and its extension. Messrs D and T Furniture will handle the supply within four weeks. - Streetlights – N155.3m
Council also approved N155,350,466.40 for Phase II of the Afao-Ekiti Streetlight Project and installation of solar-powered streetlights within the Government House, Ado-Ekiti, covering the Governor’s Lodge to Deputy Governor’s Lodge link road and the Main Gate to Second Gate road.
The project will be executed by the Ekiti State Electricity Board through direct labour within three months.
