The Anambra State Police Command has put measures in place to fortified it’s operations against criminals and avert unnecessary loss of lives and properties in the State.
The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga made decision known on Monday through a press release signed and made available to newsmen in Akwa, the capital of the State.

He also explained how the leadership of the Anambra Police activated intelligent-information-led patrols in. the area aimed to deny the criminals the space they enjoy to cause havoc and possibly arrest.
Ikenga revealed further that, “during the gun duel, bullets hit the fuel tank of the Toyota Frontier Van belonging to the AVG. As a result, the van was razed down”.
In another development, on 24th November 2024 by 4.30 pm, the Police Operatives from Okpoko Divisional headquarters responded to a distress call of a fire outbreak at Chukwunonso Street along Obodoukwu Road Okpoko and cordoned off the scene of the incident to prevent hoodlums from taking undue advantage of the situation to loot properties and goods of individuals.
Meanwhile, the swift response of the Fire Service Operatives brought the situation under control.

The Command has however begun an investigation into the cause of the fire incident to avert future occurrence.
In addition, the Anambra Police Command has also made public the arrest of a suspected deviant security operative after recovering one pump action gun wrapped in a bag of rice by him.
During the operation, the Police Operatives attached to 33 Police Divisional headquaters led by CSP Emeka Obi acting on credible information on 22nd of November, 2024 by 6:38 pm arrested one Enediong Bassey ‘M’ 25 years, a native of Ikono LGA of Akwa Ibom State and recovered one Pump action gun wrapped in a bag of rice at Nkwelle – Ezunaka.

Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of a security outfit/vigilante and was about to escape with the gun to join his criminal gang, for armed robbery and other unpatriotic activities.
Given the above and following other complaints and unprofessional conduct by some security outfits and vigilante members, the Commissioner Of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam in line with the principles of Community Policing reiterates the calls for profiling of security operatives assisting the Police and other security agencies on anti-crime operations to improve safety in the State.
The CP also directs the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Anti-robbery squad of the Command for comprehensive investigations.
