Amotekun Ekiti Yet to Confirm Officer’s Alleged Link to Eda Oniyo Kidnap Case

The Head of Operations of the Amotekun Corps Command in Ekiti State, Mr Aderotimi Ajayi, says he is unaware of allegations that an officer of the corps is among four persons reportedly arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) over the recent kidnapping in Eda Oniyo Ekiti.

Speaking with Treasure Newspaper on Sunday morning, Ajayi said he was yet to receive any official briefing on the matter.

“I am supposed to be in the church. I am not aware. That information has not come to me,” Ajayi said.

The allegation follows the abduction of some residents of Eda Oniyo Ekiti who were recently freed after the community reportedly paid N25.5 million as ransom to secure their release. Reports had suggested that the DSS arrested four suspects in connection with the incident, including an alleged Amotekun officer.

Ajayi, however, maintained that the command had no details of such an arrest.

“When I am in the position of that information, I will keep you posted. You will know. I am not aware,” he added.

As of press time, the DSS has not issued an official statement confirming the identities of the arrested suspects or their alleged roles in the kidnapping.

The Eda Oniyo incident is one of several abduction cases that have heightened security concerns in Ekiti State in recent months, prompting renewed calls for improved intelligence and collaboration among security agencies.
