Content Creator Nabbed in Ogun for Spreading False Banditry Alert Along Owode-Idiroko Road

The Ogun State Police Command has nabbed Johnson Elleh for creating and sharing a false video that claimed kidnapping and banditry were happening along the Owode-Idiroko axis.

Police said they launched an investigation immediately after the video went viral. Their findings showed the claims were false and deliberately crafted to spread fear and panic. Detectives confirmed no kidnapping or banditry incident occurred in Owode-Idiroko or surrounding areas as portrayed in the footage.

Elleh, who appeared in the video, was tracked down and arrested. Preliminary investigation indicates he fabricated the story to drive attention and online engagement for content creation. Police say his actions could have disturbed public order and eroded confidence in the state’s security.

During questioning, the suspect reportedly confessed to intentionally producing and spreading the misleading content to generate reactions online. He remains in custody while investigations continue and will be charged to court once concluded.

The Command condemned the spread of fake news and unverified security alerts, warning that anyone involved in creating or circulating such misinformation will face the full weight of the law, regardless of status or motive. 

Residents were assured that Ogun State remains safe and peaceful. The Command urged the public to stay calm, continue lawful activities, and rely only on information from official channels.
