Ogun Police Dispel Ifo Rumor, Confirm Arrest of Two Suspects in Ijebu-Ode

The Ogun State Police Command has addressed two separate security incidents in the State, dispelling the Ifo rumours and confirming the arrests of two suspect in Ijebu – Ode, urging the residents to avoid spreading unverified information. 

In the first incident, the Command debunked a false security alert that circulated in Ifo on June 3, 2026, claiming a bus load of suspected criminals was sighted along Ibogun Road. 

Police surveillance and anti-robbery teams responded immediately and found the bus was carrying 21 laborers hired by a construction company for the ongoing federal Ifo–Ibogun Road reconstruction project. 

After verifying their employment, officers confirmed the criminal allegation was false and escorted the workers to their site. The Command cautioned the public against sharing unverified reports that could cause panic or lead to harassment of innocent citizens.

In a separate development on June 4, 2026, the Command began investigating two male suspects apprehended by the Nigeria Forest Security Service in the Atiba area of Ijebu-Ode. 

The suspects were handed over to police for further inquiry. Preliminary investigations are ongoing to establish their identities and the circumstances of their activities. 

Police assured residents that the situation is under control and there is no cause for alarm, adding that any further action will depend on investigation outcomes.
