Ekiti Police Probe Attack on Council Boss at PDP Guber Candidate’s Compound

Police in Ekiti State have launched a full investigation into the alleged abduction and assault of Ikere-West LCDA Chairman, Hon. Rufus Ige Olorunfemi, and another man, Funso Ajayi, on Wednesday night at the premises of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) Governorship Candidate located along Ado Ekiti in Ikere Ekiti. 

According to a press release issued Thursday, June 4, 2026, by Police Public Relations Officer SP Abutu Sunday, the incident occurred around 9:00 PM on June 3 along Anoye Street, Ikere-Ekiti.

Preliminary findings show that three Hilux vehicles carrying armed men dressed in camouflage uniforms accosted the chairman and Ajayi before taking them to a compound belonging to Dr. Wole Oluyede, the People’s Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate for the June 20 election.

Both victims were allegedly assaulted at the location before being released.

The Commissioner of Police FALADE ADEGOROYE MICHEAL has ordered a thorough probe into the alleged conspiracy and assault.

Three suspects have been arrested and are currently in custody, while police say efforts are ongoing to apprehend others still at large.

The suspects will be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded.

CP Falade appealed for calm and warned residents, particularly political party supporters, against taking the law into their own hands or inciting violence ahead of the June 20 governorship poll.

He reiterated the Command’s commitment to safety, justice, fairness, and respect for citizens’ rights.
