Fajuyi-Olajuyigbe Felicitates With Ipole Ekiti People On Hosting Of 2026 World Tourism Day

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and senatorial hopeful for Ekiti Central Senatorial District, Princess Adesola Monica Fajuyi-Olajuyigbe, has felicitated with the people of Ipole Ekiti on the historic hosting of the 2026 World Tourism Day celebration in the community.

Princess Fajuyi-Olajuyigbe, daughter of the late military hero, Col. Francis Adekunle Fajuyi, in a goodwill message on Friday, described the choice of Ipole Ekiti as a well-deserved and a major boost for tourism development in Ekiti State. 

She noted that Ipole Ekiti, home to the famous Arinta Waterfall, is one of the most endowed tourism corridors in the state with unique natural features that have continued to attract attention from within and outside Nigeria.  

According to her, the hosting of the global celebration in Ipole is a testament to the rich cultural heritage of the community and the commitment of the Olupole of Ipole Ekiti and the entire people to preserve their heritage.  

“I heartily congratulate the Olupole of Ipole Ekiti, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ezekiel Babatola Oladele, JP, and all sons and daughters of Ipole Ekiti, both at home and in the diaspora, on this historic honour of hosting the 2026 World Tourism Day. It is a recognition of your peaceful nature, rich culture and the gift of nature in your land, particularly the Arinta Waterfall,” she said.

The PDP chieftain who has been advocating for women empowerment, youth inclusion and education reform as her core agenda for Ekiti Central, said tourism, if properly harnessed, remains a veritable tool for youth employment, wealth creation and sustainable development. 

She commended the Ekiti State Government for its deliberate efforts at showcasing Ekiti as a rising tourism destination, including the development of the State Tourism Policy and the hosting of World Tourism Day in different communities across the state.  

Princess Fajuyi-Olajuyigbe added that the 2026 edition, which according to UN Tourism will be celebrated on the theme “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence”, presents a huge opportunity for Ipole Ekiti to showcase its potentials to the world and attract investors to the Arinta Waterfall corridor.  

She urged the people of Ipole to be excellent hosts and to use the occasion to further promote unity, peace and cultural pride, while calling on government, private sector and stakeholders to invest in sustainable tourism infrastructure in the community.

“The world is coming to Ipole. This is our moment to tell our story, to show our beauty, and to turn our natural endowment into prosperity for our people,” she added.

She wished the community a successful and memorable celebration.
