Abiodun Names Six New Permanent Secretaries in Ogun Civil Service Shake-up

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun has approved the appointment of six new Permanent Secretaries to reinforce leadership within the state’s Civil and Public Service and advance ongoing reforms.

The announcement was made on Friday by the Head of Service, Mr. I.O. Saka. The appointments fill positions left vacant following the statutory retirement of some previous Permanent Secretaries.

The new appointees includes Dr. Solomon Oluseyi Sokunbi – Formerly Director of Hospital Services, Ministry of Health; Mr. Abiodun Oladunjoye Akinwunmi – Formerly Director of Chieftaincy Affairs, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Mr. Adedeji Akanbi Sowunmi – Formerly Director of Investments, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investments; Mr. Olumide Olusola Ogunbo – Formerly Project Manager, Ogun State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWATSAN); Mr. Dolamu Isaiah Idowu-Agida – Formerly Director of Administration and Supplies, Bureau of Government House and General Services; Tpl. Musinat Abiola Ayodele – Formerly Director of Urban Development, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

According to Saka, the appointments were made under Section 208(c) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), with emphasis on merit, professionalism, and inclusiveness.

Each appointee completed the Ogun State Pipeline Leadership Development Programme, a mandatory requirement for top public service positions including Permanent Secretary.

Saka noted that the move reflects the Abiodun administration’s commitment to building institutional capacity and driving a more efficient, responsive, and results-focused Civil/Public Service.

The new Permanent Secretaries have been urged to demonstrate leadership, integrity, dedication, and selflessness in line with the government’s Building Our Future Together agenda. They are expected to support the transformation of the Civil/Public Service and strengthen governance delivery across Ogun State.

Governor Abiodun is scheduled to swear in the appointees on a date to be announced.
