Ekiti Guber: PDP’s Oluyede Alleges Voter Intimidation, INEC Delays; Threatens Court Action

IKERE-EKITI — Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Dr Wole Oluyede has condemned the conduct of the June 20, 2026, Ekiti State election, citing voter intimidation and operational failures by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Speaking with reporters after voting at Osaguru Hall, Unit 6, Ward 3 in Ikere-Ekiti, Oluyede described delays in accreditation and voting as “unacceptable.” 

He said only five voters had been processed at his polling unit more than 90 minutes after polls opened.

Oluyede accused security personnel of harassing voters in the area, alleging that some officers operated from unmarked vehicles. He said he had recorded video evidence of the incidents.

“I have it on tape and will release it when the time is right. What is happening here is nonsense,” he told reporters.

The PDP candidate contrasted the situation at his unit with other locations. He claimed that in the area where the deputy governor was voting, there was a heavy police presence that intimidated voters.

Oluyede also faulted INEC’s handling of the process. He said technical staff, known as RATechs, failed to arrive despite repeated calls over a 45-minute period.

“People have been here for about one and a half hours and only five people have voted. This is how disenfranchisement starts. It is sad for democracy in Nigeria,” Oluyede said.

He vowed to challenge the outcome in court. “We’ll meet in court,” he stated.
