Kolade Rejects Ekiti APC NASS Primary Results, 

…Demands Fresh Election, Release of Detained Supporters

Ado-Ekiti — Barrister Victor Olumuyiwa Kolade, popularly known as VOK, has rejected the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary for Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II, calling for an outright cancellation and a fresh poll.

The primary, conducted nationwide on Saturday, May 16, 2026, covers Ijero, Ekiti West, and Efon Local Government Areas. 

Official results declared Oladapo Karounwi winner with 6,573 votes. Kolade polled 2,096 votes, while incumbent Abiodun Omoleye secured 1,412 votes.

Speaking to journalists in Ado-Ekiti after the announcement, Kolade described the exercise as “filthy, disappointing, and not reflective of the intent of direct primaries.” 

He alleged widespread irregularities, claiming there was no proper accreditation or verification of party members before voting began.

“99 per cent of party faithful did not expect what transpired yesterday,” Kolade said. “There was nothing like identification or accreditation. How do you determine who voted? The rules say you must confirm who lined up and who is a registered member.”

Kolade accused party officials of bypassing due process. He said he requested the party register but was given nothing, and that the INEC official present also had no documents. 

According to him, returning officers were selected by party members, and in some wards they were no INEC officials to handled the counting. “Before INEC came, figures had already been recorded. That was the end of the election,” he stated.

He further alleged discrepancies between figures from the field and those announced by the party: “The figures brought in from the field by INEC do not correspond with the figures released by the party. I was the candidate to beat in the three local governments, but they awarded me 2,000 votes and gave the supposed winner 6,000.”

Despite his grievances, Kolade said he would pursue redress through the party’s internal mechanisms, including the appeal committee. 

He urged APC leaders to consider the long-term implications of the primary on party unity. “When people speak and you suppress their views, definitely something will happen somewhere along the line. You don’t suppress the voice of the masses,” he said.

Kolade, who described himself as an “agent of peace,” appealed to his supporters to remain calm and seek lawful means to address grievances. 

He however demanded that the results should be cancelled and a real primary election should be ordered where justice will prevail and where it will not appear as though the government was contesting against the aspirants.”

He also called for the immediate release of his supporters allegedly remanded at a correctional centre over incidents linked to the primary, urging authorities not to victimise innocent party members.
