NDC Ekiti Unveils Consensus Candidates for 2026 … Vows to Challenge APC Dominance

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Ekiti State Chapter, has announced its consensus candidates for the 2026 General Elections following extensive consultations with party leaders and stakeholders across the South West Zone.

The NDC in Ekiti State also unveils a full slate and vows to challenge APC dominance ahead of the 2026/2027 polls.

The decision was finalized after an aspirants’ dinner and stakeholder meeting attended by the Deputy National Chairman (South) and the National Chairman, South West Zone. Party officials said the consensus process was adopted to promote unity, deepen internal democracy, and boost electoral preparedness.

• Senate: Dr. Ayokunle Olusegun Ayodele, PhD • House of Reps, Constituency 1: Babalola Oluwashola • House of Reps, Constituency 2: Adebayo Ige Sunday

  Reacting to the affirmation, Dr. Ayokunle Olusegun Ayodele, Ekiti South Senatorial Candidate, described the process as “a rejuvenation of sane democratic culture in Nigeria.” He added: “The emergence of the NDC at this critical period is divine intervention. The party represents hope, rescue, rebuilding, and restoration of people-centered governance.”

Barrister Adegbite BabaFemi, House of Reps Candidate for Ekiti Central Constituency 1, called the consensus a show of “political maturity and unity of purpose,” noting that credible leadership can emerge through dialogue and fairness.

Ayodele David-Adesua, House of Reps Candidate for Ekiti North Constituency 1 and State Leader, said the NDC is ready to deliver “responsible leadership anchored on competence, accountability, and service.”

Prince Adeyinka Oluwaseun Alli, Ekiti North Senatorial Candidate, praised the process as a reflection of “unity, maturity, and purposeful leadership,” pledging quality representation and youth empowerment.

Party stakeholders expressed confidence that the consensus list will strengthen the NDC’s growing base in Ekiti State, positioning it as a strong contender despite the dominance of the ruling APC.

The NDC called on members, youths, professionals, and all well-meaning Nigerians to support its candidates in the mission to “rescue, rebuild, and reposition Nigeria for sustainable progress and inclusive governance.”
