The attention of the leadership of the Igbo community in Ekiti State, under the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ekiti State Chapter, High Chief Sir Ndubuisi Alexander, KSJI, has been drawn to intelligence reports alleging that Igbo leaders plan to persuade members to vote against the ruling party in the upcoming election.

We state categorically that the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Ekiti has never convened any meeting with traders or members to discuss multiple taxation or any grievances against the Ekiti State Government. No decision was taken to cast protest ballots against the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

The allegation is false, mischievous, and unfair, especially given the recognition and goodwill the state government has extended to the Igbo community. Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Ekiti would not conspire to take any action that undermines the existing cordial relationship with the administration of His Excellency, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.

This rebuttal is necessary to reassure Governor Oyebanji that the Igbo community remains committed to the pledge we made when he addressed us alongside the Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma, during the Igbo Cultural Day Celebration at Ekiti Parapo Pavilion, Ado-Ekiti.

The entire allegation is the handiwork of mischief makers intent on painting Ndigbo in a bad light before the Governor and his government. The Igbo community holds no grouse against the Governor and continues to support him in view of his developmental strides across the state.

We appeal to Governor Oyebanji, members of the APC, and the general public to disregard this claim. It is the product of political job seekers and attention seekers trading their conscience for selfish gain.

The support of Ndigbo for the APC and the Governor will be evident in the outcome of the June 20, 2026 election. Detractors will be put to shame.

In light of this, the President-General urges all Igbo in Ekiti State to come out en masse and vote wisely.
