Senate Leader Bamidele Donates Two Buses to Ekiti NLC

… Urges Mass Support For Oyebanji’s Re-Election Bid

Ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State, Senate Leader Michael Opeyemi Bamidele has donated two buses to the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and called on workers to turn out en masse to re-elect Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for a second term.

The handover ceremony drew Governor Oyebanji, Ekiti NLC Chairman, Comrade Kolapo Olatunde, labour leaders, and other stakeholders.

Speaking to journalists after the presentation, Bamidele described himself as a lifelong member and beneficiary of the labour movement. 

He credited labour-led struggles for shaping his political journey, citing past campaigns for free education, academic freedom, and the restoration of democracy during his time in the national student movement. 

“The labour movement goes beyond workers alone. It includes students and young people who share a vision of social transformation,” Bamidele said. 

He added that having benefited from those struggles, he remains committed to supporting workers and their welfare.

Bamidele praised Oyebanji’s performance in office and said Ekiti people would reward him with another term. 

He stressed that the All Progressives Congress, APC, was not only seeking victory but also a strong voter turnout. He encouraged eligible voters to back the APC, framing it as a vote for continuity of Oyebanji’s development agenda.

Governor Oyebanji thanked the Senate Leader for his backing and urged workers to reciprocate by supporting the APC-led government. 

He highlighted his administration’s record of prompt salary, pension, and gratuity payments, plus timely promotions for deserving workers. 

“With what you are getting today, you can all attest that the entire APC is worker friendly,” Oyebanji said. “Make judicious use of these vehicles for your logistics and mobility, and support us so we can collectively take Ekiti to the promised land.”
