Ede Junction Raid: Three Arrested as Osun CP Warns Against Politicising Police Operations

The Commissioner of Police in Osun State, CP Ibrahim Gotan, says the Command has intensified intelligence-led raids on criminal hideouts and black spots across the state to ensure a peaceful election and safeguard lives and property.

Briefing journalists in his office in Osogbo on Monday, August 3, CP Gotan said the operations were purely professional and not targeted at any political party.

“These operations are part of our long-term crime prevention and detection efforts aimed at protecting lives and property and ensuring a crime-free and peaceful election,” he said.

He disclosed that operatives raided a known criminal black spot around Ede Junction at about 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, and arrested three suspects.

The suspects were identified as Musa Taoreed, alias “Toyo”, Musa Muritala Akinde, and Muri Akinni. According to the CP, they are currently in custody while investigations continue to determine their level of culpability.

Gotan expressed concern over attempts by some political parties to politicise legitimate police operations, warning that such narratives were misleading and capable of heightening tension.

“The Command is concerned by the increasing tendency of some political parties to politicise legitimate police operations. Such deliberate attempts to attach political undertones to legitimate security operations are misleading, capable of creating unnecessary tension, and ultimately undermine public safety,” he said.

He advised parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against late-night movements, suspicious gatherings, and association with persons of questionable character.

The Commissioner reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to professionalism and neutrality, urging law-abiding citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

He added that security operations across the state would continue to be conducted strictly in accordance with the law and in the collective interest of peace and public safety.
