EKITI: INEC Deploys Election Sensitive Materials To 16 LGA’s

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Ekiti State has deployed the election sensitive materials for the Presidential and National Assembly Elections scheduled to hold on Saturday, February 25, 2023 across the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State.

The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, in Ekiti State, Professor Ayobami Salami stated the above while responding to questions from pressmen at the Ekiti State Headquarters of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, where the sensitive materials were sorted, separated and distributed across the state.

According to the Ekiti INEC REC, “The INEC, Ekiti State is here at the CBN with all the members of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security and the Representatives of the political parties and other stakeholders to witness the distributions of the sensitive materials to all the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State.”

Speaking further, Professor Salami, said, “we have received all the sensitive and non-sensitive materials. Before now, we have distributed the non-sensitive materials and today, we are distributing all the sensitive materials to all the local government areas in the State.

“Everything that we need, we have received. And we are distributing to all the local governments in the State at the polling units, registration areas and every part of the State.”

On the doubt by some Nigerians that the election might not hold, the Ekiti INEC REC, said, “I want to assure you by the Grace of God, come Saturday this week, the Presidential election and then, the National Assembly election will hold. And by this time next week, the new President for the Nation would have been declared and the elected members of the National Assembly would have also been declared”, he assured. 

On the scarcity of the Naira, the REC was told, that, Nigerians are worried, the INEC REC also used the opportunity to assure Nigerians that, “the cash crunch will not affect the mobilization and all the activities of INEC because as of now, they have received the necessary cash that are needed for conduct of the election.” he declared.

Salami also told Ekiti people that the logistics, in respect to fuel, and funds have been adequately provided for. He added that, “fuel for all our activities are now ready and the INEC is good to go. 

Continuing, Salami told residents of the state that the sensitive materials in the custody of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, is already been taking custody from the CBN.

Present at the CBN to inspect the sensitive materials were all the Heads of all the Security Agencies in Ekiti State.
