The former Ekiti State University, EKSU’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Dipo Kolawole’s Unity House has emerged as the 1st overall winner at the 18th Inter-House Sports Competition of the Federal Government Girls College, FGGC, in Efon Alaaye which took place at the College’s Sports Pavilion on Thursday.
Reports sent to Treasure Newspaper on Friday revealed that, the annual event which attracted lots of dignitaries from all walks of life witnessed how the Unity House sponsored by Professor Dipo Kolawole emerged victorious to defeat other Houses at the colourful Inter-House Sports competition.
According to informations made available to Treasure Newspaper, it stated that the Unity House, which was sponsored by the EKSU’s former hechman, and a renowned Professor of Political Science, Dipo Kolawole, his Unity House emerged on the top of the medals table out of five Houses that slogged it out during the 18th edition of the Inter-House Sports Competition of the Federal Government Girls College, FGGC, in Efon Alaaye.
The reports sent in revealed that the four Houses which took part in the 18th Inter-House Sports competition of the Federal Unity School are; Oba Aladejare House, which was adjudged as first position in the Match Pass; Rachael Ilori Ojo House; Bola Abimbola House and Daniel Ashaolu’s House.
This year’s Sports Competition of FGGC Efon Alaaye, which was held amid pomp and celebrations at the College ground also played host to top personalities of the society from all walks of life, who thronged the FGGC sports pavillon in honor of some of the benefactors of the Federal Government Girls College located in Efon Alaaye, for their individual and collective role in helping the College to find it’s feet in the Efon community since year 2000, when the College began operation.
Encomiums were showered on Prof. Dipo Kolawole, the former Vice Chancellor of the Ekiti State University, who served as the Special Assistant to the Federal Minister of Education at the time the Federal Government Girls College was established and sited in the town.
The gesture in naming the Unity House after Prof Dipo Kolawole was, apparently intended to appreciate the efforts and strategies deployed in facilitating the College to Efon-Alaaye during his time as the Special Assistant to the then Honourable Minister of Education, Prof Tunde Adeniran at the Federal Minister of Education in Abuja.
