A Burglary, House Breaker, Theft Arrested In Yobe By Police

The Yobe State Police Command as part of its continued effort to rid the State of criminal elements, the Command has succeeded in bursting and arresting a syndicate of hoodlums who specialized in house breaking, burglary, theft and other vices within Damaturu, the State Capital and other neighboring towns.

The Yobe State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim made this known to the Treasure Newspaper on Friday night. 

According to the Police PRO, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, he said, “on the 29th of August, 2022, detectives from B’ Divisional Police Headquarters in Damaturu, apprehended some miscreants suspected to be responsible for house breaking, burglary and theft within the areas of Sabon-Pegi, Pompomari housing a Three bedroom Housing Estate”.

He explained that the suspects were arrested after having broken into the house of one Usman Isa of Three-Bedroom Estate while he was away with his family and left his house locked. 

He revealed the identities of the suspects to include one Mohammed Ibrahim, aged 18yrs old who live at a Three-Bedroom Housing Estate located on Maiduguri Road.

He also named one Maman Usman, aged 19yrs located at the Maduri ward; one Abubakar Ya’uba, aged 30yrs who lived at the Jerusalem ward; Suleiman Yusuf, aged 23yrs of Pompomari ward; Mustapha Musa, aged 18yrs of Waziri Ibrahim Estate and Modu Killa, aged 25yrs of Maduri ward.

Others included one Hassan Adamu, aged 18yrs of Three-Bedroom Housing Estate, Maiduguri Road and Hassan Adamu, A.K.A Sabon-Tuba, aged 19yrs of Maduri all of Damaturu LGA.

He alleged that the suspects carted away the under listed items from the scene of the crime and these includes 

a LG 32 inches TV Set, Keypad Cell Phone, Iphone X Cell Phone, Electric Pressing Iron (Philips) and Two Native made Caps. 

Dungus added that all the stolen items were recovered and suspects have been arraigned before the Magistrate Court in Damaturu on the 1st September, 2022 and were all convicted with various sentences.

The PPRO revealed further that two of the principal suspects namely Maman Usman and Hassan Adamu A.K.A Sabon-Tuba were sentenced to three years imprisonment without an option of fine. 

Other Convicts were sentenced to term of imprisonment ranging from Two (2) – Nine (9) Months with option of fine between Ten Thousand Naira (₦10,000) and Twenty Thousand Naira (₦20,000) only.  

He stated that the Command used the opportunity to urge all and sundry to continue to support the Yobe Police Command by providing useful and credible information to the nearest Police Station of any suspicious movements, vehicles and person within and around their vicinity or premises.

However, the Honourable Commissioner of Police in Yobe State, CP Haruna Garba has reiterated his commitment towards ensuring that crime is brought to the barest minimum in the State.
