Ogun CP, Surveyors Push Ethical Standards to Tackle Land Fraud

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, has stressed the need for stronger ethical standards and professional collaboration to curb land-related fraud and promote public safety across the state.

CP Ojajuni made the call while receiving a delegation of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, NIS, Ogun State Branch, led by its Chairman, Surveyor Abiodun Olufemi Liadi, at the Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta. 

The visit focused on strengthening collaboration between the professional body and the Police Command, particularly in the areas of public safety, intelligence sharing and professional integrity.

Speaking during the visit, Surveyor Liadi disclosed that the Institution had compiled a directory of all registered surveyors in Ogun State to prevent impersonation and expose fraudulent practitioners within the profession. 

He noted that registered surveyors operate under strict ethical guidelines and urged the Police to utilise the directory in identifying genuine professionals. The delegation also presented copies of the Institution’s Code of Conduct and members’ directory to the Commissioner.

In his remarks, CP Ojajuni described surveying and mapping as critical to infrastructural development, land administration and peaceful coexistence within communities. 

He assured the Institution of the Command’s continued support and called for sustained public enlightenment against land grabbing and fraudulent land transactions, describing such activities as threats to public peace and security.
