Amoye Grammar School in Ikere-Ekiti on Tuesday witnessed the commissioning of the Chief Wole Olanipekun Digital Centre, a modern ICT facility donated to boost computer literacy and innovation among students.

The centre, funded by legal luminary, Chief Wole Olanipekun, replaces a 2007 ICT lab he earlier donated that was damaged during reconstruction of the Akure–Ikere–Ado Road.

Olanipekun said the new hub is larger, better equipped, and built to global standards to prepare students for a tech-driven world.

He called on Old Students’ Associations across Nigeria to keep leading efforts to revive public schools, stressing that alumni groups now work alongside government to upgrade infrastructure and learning conditions.

Olanipekun praised the Amoye Grammar School Old Students’ Association (AMOSA) executives for transparently managing project funds and lauded the school’s principal, Mrs. Titilope Fatuase, and her staff for their collaboration in delivering the centre.

In his address, AMOSA National President, Dr. Martins Oluwadare Adeyemo described the facility as a state-of-the-art hub that will improve teaching, internet access, and e-learning.

He noted, however, that more support is needed, specifically additional laptops to reach the centre’s 150-user capacity, and a dedicated solar power system to ensure stable electricity and protect equipment from outages.

Adeyemo thanked government officials, traditional leaders, and alumni worldwide for their contributions, adding that the project will help close the digital gap and make Amoye Grammar School a model for public secondary education in Ekiti State.

The ceremony ended with the official unveiling of the building and a charge to students to use the centre for research, innovation, and academic excellence.
