FCE Ilawe-Ekiti Matriculates 345 Students, Calls for Purpose-Driven Learning

The Federal College of Education, Ilawe-Ekiti has held its second matriculation ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic session on Thursday, formally welcoming 345 new students into the institution.

The event took place at the college auditorium and was attended by members of management, deans of schools, parents, and other stakeholders.

In his address, Acting Provost and College Librarian, Dr. Abdulmumin Isah, told the matriculating students that admission marked the start, not the end, of their academic journey. 

He urged them to stay focused, disciplined, and intentional, using every opportunity to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

Dr. Isah explained that under the Federal Government’s dual mandate policy, colleges of education can now run both NCE and degree programmes. This means students can complete their Nigeria Certificate in Education and advance to a bachelor’s degree within the same institution, without seeking admission elsewhere.

He advised the students to manage their time well, uphold integrity, embrace technology, and keep learning beyond the classroom. 

He also cautioned against negative peer influence, noting it could derail their academic pursuits.

Speaking to journalists after the ceremony, Dr. Isah reiterated the need for determination and good character, reminding students of their parents’ sacrifices and encouraging them to aim for excellent results.

The Ekiti State JAMB Coordinator, Mr. Ganiyu Ishola, praised the college’s rapid growth since its establishment in 2023, describing it as one of the fastest-growing federal colleges of education in Nigeria. 

He charged the students to remain disciplined and maximize the NCE to degree pathway.

The matriculation oath was administered by Dr. Khadijah Wuraola Graba, after which the Acting Provost declared the ceremony closed.
