Ondo Governor Sets To Deliver 59th Founders’ Day Lecture Of Adeyemi College Of Education

The Executive Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Arakunrin Odunayo Oluwarotimi Akeredolu will on Saturday, 20th of May, 2023 deliver the 59th Founders’ Day Anniversary Lecture of Adeyemi College of Education (ACE),  Ondo.

The 59th Founder’s Day Anniversary organized by Alumni Association in collaboration with the College Management have outlined series of activities for the anniversary, which would begin on Friday 19th May, 2023 with a Jumat Service at the College Central Mosque by 1:30pm, and a football Novelty match at College Sport Centre by 4pm.

The anniversary programme would also involve presentation of awards to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, five outstanding members of the Alumni Association, and presentation of Education Support Grants to ten outstanding students of the College.

Other highlights of the anniversary include the thanksgiving service that would hold at Christ Chapel Interdenominational Church in the College on 21st May, 2023 by 9am and the Commissioning of Multimillion Naira Alumni Event Centre on the 22nd May, 2023 which will be followed by another public lecture titled: “Moving Away from The Past; Revitalizing Tertiary Education In Nigeria”. 

The lecture will be delivered by an Alumnus of the Institution, Professor Bimbo Adesoji of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State under the Chairmanship of Professor (Mrs.) Adenike Temidayo Oladiji, the Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Technology Akure. 

Adeyemi College of Education (ACE), Ondo was established in the year 1963, but officially opened on the 22nd of May, 1964 by the defunct Government of Western Region of Nigeria with 93 students comprising 69 males and 24 females.

However, historical records indicated that in the year 1965, the now defunct Ransome Kuti and Olunloyo Colleges of Education, which were in the then Western Region were merged with the institution, to become Adeyemi College of Education.  

The Institution was named after an indigene of Ondo Community, Reverend Canon Moses Craig Akinpelumi Adeyemi, who was a renowned educationist and notable personality in the community.
