Anambra Police Command Bans Indiscriminate Use Of Tinted Vehicles

The Anambra State Police Command has banned the Indiscriminate Use of tinted vehicles in the State, and charged the residents to continue to remain more vigilant.

The Command’s Spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga in a statement signed and made available to newsmen on Thursday morning emphasized on the need for the people of Anambra State to take their safety and security more serious. 

In his own words, Ikenga pointed out, that, “as part of the efforts to enhance public safety and peace in the State, the Anambra State Police Command urged the Ndi Anambra to remain vigilant and seek their support in sustaining safety, improving surveillance and reporting any suspicious activities and supplying  information to the nearest police station or via its emergency hotlines on 07039194332 or the PRO on 08039334002. 

Adding, SP Ikenga said, “the Command frowns at the discreditable conduct of some individuals using tinted vehicles and discourages the use, except if necessary because of how criminal elements use it to beat security points and attack security operatives in the State.

Continuing, he explained, that given the climate change, that is, the harmattan Period, the people of Anambra State are advised against any acts of negligent such as uncontrolled bush burning, immoderate dropping of cigarette butts, use of firecrackers and other explosives, careless handling of receptacles for trash, poor handling of electrical appliances and other human actions or inactions capable of causing fire outbreaks or a raging inferno should be avoided. 

The Command also urged the members of the public to desist from engaging in any form of jungle justice and to exercise restraint always. 

He advised them to always endeavour to take any suspect apprehended to the nearest Police Station, as this would afford the Police the opportunity to conduct appropriate investigation and bring the suspects to justice.

The Command also advised motorists to always obey traffic rules and reiterated the ban on the use of fireworks, knockouts, and other explosives during festivities as its ban is still in force. 

“The Command further describes the use of knockouts and fireworks as act that  constitutes nuisance and disturbance to public peace and safety, and also capable of causing unnecessary fear and apprehension and attracting other dangers associated with its usage, especially during this harmattan period. 

The Command however expressed its commitment to consolidate on the gains of crime prevention and restoration of law and order and improving the safety and security of lives in the State.
